Namazi Hospital is a general, educational, specialty and super-specialty hospital. This hospital is one of the medical training centers of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and was endowed by Mr. Mohammad Namazi. In this medical training center, along with providing medical and diagnostic services to respected clients, training of medical students is also carried out at different levels.
Establishment of Namazi Hospital
The construction of the Namazi Hospital building was started in 1952 and was put into operation in 1955, with the efforts of Mohammad Namazi. This hospital was built in a garden with an area of 25 hectares and an infrastructure of 7,500 m2 and 300 beds (pictures of the construction of the hospital). At that time, Namazi Hospital was considered the most equipped hospital in the Middle East. In 1972, Mr. Namazi decided to expand the hospital, but on the 20th of May of that year, he passed away. The development of the hospital continued in the following years and in 1988 the number of hospital beds reached more than 600. In order to have quick access to the doctors of the hospital, the late Namazi built 22 villas and a number of residential apartments in a part of the garden, which is now the residence of a number of doctors and hospital staff. Villas number 1 and 2 are at the disposal of the endowment department, which has renovated and repaired them in order to maintain Namazi endowments.
Medical education Center
Namazi Hospital is a medical training center and it can be said that all students of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences spend part of their training in this hospital. Medical education is under the supervision of the medical school and nursing education is under the supervision of the nursing school. The offices of ten educational groups are located in Namazi Hospital, which supervise the education of students in cooperation with the educational-research vice-chancellor of the hospital.
